May 13, 2015 - Weston, MO - The West Platte Education Foundation announced at the annual High School Awards Ceremony on May 13, 2015 the winner of a $1,000 scholarship for demonstrating excellence in the classroom and in the community. Chelsea Englis is the recipient of this years $1,000 scholarship. Chelsea is attending Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri studying to be a dental hygienist.
The education foundation was newly formed in early 2015 with the mission of providing resources to the students, teachers, and staff of the West Platte School District--beyond those that can be provided by the District itself--to promote and encourage the highest standards of educational excellence and achievement.
The Foundation supports academic excellence in the West Platte School District by providing funds for educational initiatives such as college scholarships for graduating West Platte seniors, funds to attract professional scholars for classroom and community presentations, memorial funds for special programs, and other initiatives.
